AMC Accreditation 2008
  (and Accreditation Outcome)

The Australian Medical Council (AMC) undertakes accreditation of all medical student teaching programmes on a regular basis for all medical schools in Australia and New Zealand.

The last accreditation assessment for the University of Otago Faculty of Medicine was in 2004.

The AMC Accreditation Assessment Team completed their visit 11th-15th August.

The submission from the Faculty was prepared in accordance with the very extensive AMC Guidelines for preparing submissions. It contains a large amount of very useful information in relation to our curriculum in medicine, and the activities and structures of our four Schools, the Faculty of Medicine, and the University.

The Faculty’s 2008 submission to the AMC is available for download (by staff & students only) in PDF form (4 parts) below:

There are a large number of Appendices and Resource Documents referred to within the submission. These are not available on the website but if there is a document you are particularly interested in then please contact the Faculty Office.

Please note that you will be required to enter your University username and password in order to view/download the files linked above. Most web browsers will store that username and password until they are closed, so if you are using a shared computer you should make sure you quit the browser when you are finished.

The summary report and recommendations for accreditation from the AMC, and the letter confirming the accreditation are available for download by anyone.

The full report is available for download in PDF form by staff and students only.

The Faculty is very pleased to have received the maximum possible accreditation period for its medical curriculum.
